This is a very interesting and possibly unique bayonet. The bayonet was originally a P1911 or MK.II Ross. The bayonet received the normal maker and patent information on the pommel as well as crown 4 inspection stamps to the back strap and one wood scale. It did not however receive the Canadian government ownership stamps. It has been modified by bushing the muzzle ring to 14.2 mm. There is also a large 38 stamped on the grip. So likely there are 37 more examples like this out there somewhere. Someone took a non issued MK.II bayonet and modified it to fit an earlier Ross model. This would have been commercial use rather than military. So perhaps a small commercial contract? It is a bit of a mystery.
