The yataghan blade is a Chassepot with Mutzing arsenal markings on the back of the blade and dated 1868. The brass hilt is in the Chassepot style but with a dished out back of the hilt and a brass cross guard and quillon. The double barrel muzzle ring has a notch for the front sight. The blade is pitted with some edge nicks. The main rivet in the hilt has been repeened and the hilt dented a bit at that location.
