Single edged knife blade with a false edge. The ricasso is maker marked to one of the Michel family. Nice octagonal socket with a ball. Like is often seen on these bayonets the mortise slot is cut to fit to the left of the barrel with a top stud. Three steps mortise slot. It has a filed attachment shield. A really beautiful example.
