Reference: Renoux- Mery- Les Sabres Epees Et Poignards-Baionnettes Militaires Francais pg 32-4
At first glance this looks like a standard French M1842 bayonet. But the huge muzzle ring quickly changes that. These were made in very limited numbers for the Fusil de Rampart M1842 also known as the Grosse Carabine. These bayonets have survived in very small numbers and are rarely seen. Moderate pitting to cross guard with some scattered pitting on the blade as well as a few edge nicks. Button works well. I have had this one in my collection for over 20 years.
