Reference: Hartman- The US Krag Bayonets pg 231
While these are known as Krag Bowies in collector circles the correct nomenclature is Krag Combination Knife Bayonet and Intrenching Tool. About 2818 of these were made by Springfield Armory in 1900 for testing in the Philippines and Cuba. This is a quite nice example of this scarce bayonet. The blade is superb. There is a bit of grease on it but is just beautiful. The hilt is quite nice. The scabbard has much of the original bluing and only a few very faint dents. Way above average condition for the examples of these I have seen for sale in recent years.
